Part I — May 5, 2005
Examine Barriers to Therapy and A1c Goal Attainment

  1. Review a survey of PCP attitudes and practice management behaviors
  2. Identify barriers to effective diabetes management and discuss impact on outcomes
  3. Evaluate treatment options to manage disease progression with prescribing and managing insulin therapy
  4. Case study review and discussion

Part II — June 16, 2005
Resources and Tools for Your Practice
  1. Review Guidelines & Algorithms for diabetes treatment from nationally recognized organizations
  2. Discuss the legal implications of the Florida Diabetes Medical Practice Guidelines
  3. Develop a tool box of resources e.g., flow sheets, DSMT resources, sharing of best practices
  4. Case study review and discussion

Part III — July 21, 2005
Compliance & Depression in DM Management
  1. Compare and contrast compliance and empowerment approaches in patient management
  2. Discuss the impact concurrent depression has on diabetes management outcomes
  3. Case study review and discussion
