| Stephanie Sarkis, PhD NCC LMHC Dr. Sarkis is a Gator four times over, receiving the following degrees from the University of Florida: Bachelor of Science in Telecommunication, 1994; Masters of Education in Mental Health Counseling, 1997; Specialist of Education in Mental Health Counseling, 1997; Doctor of Philosophy in Mental Health Counseling, 2002.
Dr. Sarkis maintains a private practice in Boca Raton, Florida and is is an adjunct assistant professor at Florida Atlantic University. She is a National Certified Counselor and also a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Florida. Dr. Sarkis received a 2001 Outstanding Dissertation Award from the American Psychiatric Association for her research on comorbid ADHD and brain function. She lectures and presents her research internationally. |

This an intermedate level eithics courses for licensed Psychologists, Clinical Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, and Mental Health Counselors.
This course focuses on the ethical decision making with children and adolescents, basic developmental levels of children and adolescents, limits of confidentiality and parents’ rights in the counseling,ethical issues specific to counseling children and adolescents and the differce when counseling in a private setting compared to in an agency.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course valued at three continuing education credits, the learner will be able to:
- Be knowledgeable of the steps in the ethical decision making process and apply these steps to professional practice.
- Know basic developmental levels of children and adolescents, and how these stages of development affect therapy and the informed consent process.
- Learn the limits of confidentiality and parents’ rights in the counseling process.
